Weaves together the stories of five chefs who once cooked for brutal strongmen - Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Pinochet, and Kim Jong-il. Because of poverty, necessity, fear, or choice, they found themselves serving dictators, navigating fear, loyalty, and complicity in kitchens where, in some cases, the wrong dish could mean death.
